Lindsay McCarthy earned her Master of Science degree in Human Development with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech and her Bachelor of Science degree in Community, Family, and Addictive Services from Texas Tech University. Currently, Lindsay is enrolled in a PhD program at Sam Houston State University, working toward a degree in Counselor Education.
Throughout her training, Lindsay has had clinical training in numerous different settings. She has been in private practice since 2016. Prior to private practice, Lindsay has worked at two outpatient community clinics, an adult male inpatient facility for substance abuse, and a juvenile detention center. She has extensive training in Systems Theory, and has worked with many couples, families, and individuals from a variety of models with an array of presenting issues.
Lindsay received her Marriage and Family Therapist Associate licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists and her Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern license through the Texas State Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Program. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Texas Associate for Marriage and Family Therapy, and Anderson Salon.
Lindsay believes that through conversations, the possibilities for new solutions to client’s identified problems are opened and explored. Clients are the experts in their own lives and through the stories that are shared, clients are able to co-create new possibilities for moving forward. As a therapist, Lindsay encourages clients to develop greater self-awareness and mental health through their life experiences; through building increased confidence, self-esteem, and independence; and building the capacity to effectively navigate the complex challenges of life.
